How to Design and Cut Out Geometric Shapes using Cricut Design Space

What if you just need to cut out a simple shape? While you could easily measure, draw and cut out a square or rectangle by hand, it would be more difficult to cut out a perfect circle, a heart, or a star. You can easily draw and out simple shapes right in Cricut Design Space.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to design a rectangle from the standard shapes.  All you need to get started is your Design Space account, a Cricut machine, and some cardstock to test your design.

Using the Basic Shapes to Design, Size, and Cut a Rectangle

  1. On the Design Space home page, click the horizontal lines in the upper left of the screen next to Home.

2. From the drop-down menu, select Canvas

  1. On the left side of the Canvas, click the Shapes icon.

4. From the Shapes menu, select the Square.

For this tutorial, we’ll be cutting out a liner for a 5 x 7 inch greeting card. We’ll need a 4.5 by 6.5 inch rectangle. Login to your Cricut Design Space, then follow the steps below.
